THE “10 YEARS OF SUPPORTED LIVING – 10 YEARS FORWARD” INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE, ORGANIZED BY ESTIA, WAS SUCCESFULLY HELD.
With a legacy of the 10-year operation of Supported Living houses for people with intellectual disability, ESTIA organized the International Conference “10 Years of Supported Living – 10 Steps Forward”, on 19 & 20 November 2021 at the Divani Caravel Hotel.
The International Conference focused on important issues of supported living, such as the challenges in the operation of Supported Living Houses, the experience of the residents, family and community, the quality of life in Supported Living Houses, the role of the state and local government, the role of corporate social responsibility, the empowerment and supervision of employees in Supported Living Houses, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, supported accommodation for people with high level need of support, the future of supported living in Greece and in other European countries.
At the same time, the view of the family on Supported Living were presented through a survey conducted among 50 organizations from all over Greece, from which 605 questionnaires were collected, covering not only Athens but also the rest of Greece.
The Conference was attended by representatives from 10 European countries, participants from 35 collaborating organizations, 180 delegates and 40 distinguished professional as speakers, who shared their experience in the institution of supported living.
At the Conference was presented, on first broadcast, ESTIA’s song ¨The warmest hug¨, on lyrics by Stavros Charitos, set to music and orchestrated by the singer and vocalist Angeliki Toumpanaki and her partners.
ESTIA’s president` Mrs. Efi Prokopaki warmly thanked the Organizing and Scientific Committee of the Conference, all the speakers and delegates who contributed to the success of this Conference.
